Mercy Hosts Free Health Seminars

Oklahoma City—Mercy Health Center will host three free seminars this month for anyone who wants to know more about rheumatology, colon cancer or prostate cancer and robotic surgery. Each seminar will feature a short talk by a highly specialized physician, along with a Q&A segment.

Seminars include: Rheumatology Friday, March 13, 10 a.m. Mark Hulsey, M.D., a Mercy rheumatologist, has dedicated his life to diagnosing and treating patients who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis — a condition in which the body’s immune system is out of regulation and begins to attack joints and other organs. Because more than 100 conditions mimic rheumatoid arthritis, it’s critical for patient to receive highly specialized care.

Colon Cancer Monday, March 16, 2 p.m. Christian Ellis, D.O., a Mercy oncology surgeon, is one of only two fellowship-trained surgical oncologists in Oklahoma, and the only one located in the OKC metro area. Because of his own personal journey with cancer, he knows firsthand that cancer treatment requires the whole person — body, mind and spirit.

Prostate Cancer and Robotic Surgery Tuesday, March 24, 10 a.m. Brian Link, M.D., a Mercy urologic oncologist, is one of only a handful or urologic oncologists in the state and the first and only robotic fellowship trained urologists in Oklahoma. For those with a diagnosis of prostate cancer, robotic surgery offers a less invasive option which means less pain, fewer complications, a shorter hospital stay, little scarring and a quicker return to normal life.

All seminars will be held in Mercy’s conference center. To RSVP for the free talks, call (405) 752-3600.
